The noise of our world is problematic. We complain about it. But we also listen to it, respond to it, and live out our lives according to what it tells us.
And yet…what if there is meaning inside the noise? What if there are systems and signals that drive our behaviors without us knowing it? What can they tell us if we ask the right questions?
If we understand the desire lines that shape our world, if we can see why pro-formas rarely come true, if we accept that life is always changing, and our perception of it is only provisional…could we do a better job of living?
That’s why chasing light is worth doing. After all, if we can see more clearly, we can work smarter, live with less drama, better prepare for what happens next, and delight in a world that we are only a small part of.

All of us contain multitudes. Gunnar Branson has a few as well. He is the CEO of The Association of Foreign Investors in Real Estate, (AFIRE) and the author of the book Chasing Lights. Through an unlikely career in the arts, innovation consulting, strategic marketing, commercial real estate, professional services, finance, and association leadership, his perspective on how organizations, markets, and individuals function is unique and colored by a childhood spent on the edge of the world.
He writes and speaks about changing perspectives, looking underneath the facades we all take for granted, and how looking directly at systems, people and environments can reveal better paths for people and organizations.
